Conservatorship

Conservatorship is a powerful legal tool used when an adult cannot manage their personal or financial affairs due to disability, cognitive impairment, mental health conditions, or age-related decline. In these situations, the court may appoint a conservator who becomes legally responsible for making decisions on behalf of the conservatee.

A conservatorship may be of the person, of the estate, or both—allowing the conservator to make medical decisions, manage finances, protect assets from exploitation, and ensure the conservatee’s safety and well-being. Because conservatorship significantly restricts an individual’s rights, the court requires extensive documentation, doctor statements, background checks, and strict annual reporting.

Families often find themselves in crisis when seeking conservatorships, especially when loved ones are vulnerable, uncooperative, or at risk of exploitation. The legal process can be complicated, slow, and emotionally draining, and small mistakes can result in denial or delays that leave the vulnerable person without protection.

At Crimmigration Inc., we support families through the entire conservatorship process. We help determine whether a conservatorship is appropriate, assist in gathering required documentation, prepare filings with precision, and advocate for you at each hearing. Our goal is to safeguard vulnerable individuals while respecting their dignity, autonomy, and cultural needs.
